Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Last week we got to take Grandma & Grandpa out to dinner for Grandpa's 81st birthday. We went to Texas Roadhouse. The kids loved the peanuts and climbing all over Grandma & Grandpa. I loved watching Grandma & Grandpa interacting with our kids. Mikey nestled right in next to Grandma and was her little buddy while she fed him mashed potatoes and he licked every last rib bone clean. Isaac sat by Grandpa (when he could actually sit still) and sat on the saddle for Grandpa when they came to sing him Happy Birthday. It was such a fun evening! Thanks Grandpa for sharing your birthday with us!

Broken Leg

Yesterday little Mikey broke his leg. Kira and a friend were playing with Mikey and brought him up on the trampoline to jump with him. Well, they got jumping a little too high and when he came down, his little leg just couldn't take the impact and he got a buckle fracture on his upper tibia. Poor little guy. He was pretty miserable yesterday. He's doing a little better today as long as we keep Motrin in him. He has a soft cast on right now and I'll take him back on Monday to see the orthopedic doctor to get a real cast. The cast goes above his knee so he can't walk, crawl, or really even move right now. Carrying him is kind of hard because I can't put him on my hip like usual so I have to kind of cradle him like a baby (which still hurts a little and he doesn't really love). And, no swimming for a month! :( I've never had a broken bone or any kids with broken bones so I'm not entirely sure how fast things heal but I'm assuming he'll be much better in about a week even though he has to wear the cast for a month?

You will notice that when I ask where Celeste found the hat she says 'The basement". I of course, as a male, don't listen all that well and say..."The bedroom ?". I didn't even know she knew the word basement. Her language skills are going crazy!

Our Very Own Idol

Rachel participated in the first Preliminary round of BYU Idol. There are 3 or 4 Preliminary rounds and the winners of each will compete in April. She tied with 2 others for first and will perform again at the finale. She sang Fidelity by Regina Spektor. She said she knew she had no chance of winning so she just had fun with the song (walking out into the audience, sitting on the edge of the stage, etc.) The judges said she definitely made the wrong song choice but love her voice and want to hear her sing something more like Alicia Keyes (I really don't like Alicia Keyes, but. . . oh, well). I wish I could have been there.

Celeste decided she needed some "lipstick" on her lips as they were chapped. "Mo, mo, mo. I need mo." was her mantra during this session.
